Ken’s Mega Bike Challenge
In September, Ken is to don his Lycra and embark on a epic cycle challenge around Scotland. He plans to cycle 500miles in 5 days which will also involve the equivalent of peddling the height of Everest! ??
In doing so he plans to raise money for Maggie’s and in memory of his mother and father.
We feel that Maggie’s is a great cause and Ken wishes he had their support when he was dealing with his parents through their cancer related illnesses.
We would be very grateful for any DONATIONS to this wonderful cause.
Maggie’s Centres are only funded by donations and give fantastic advice/support to cancer sufferers and their families..every penny raised will go to this charity…event costs will be covered by the cyclists and kind donations.
There are around 20 Maggie’s Centres across the UK they are built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals. The first centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996, Highland’s centre in the grounds of Raigmore in Inverness opened a few years later. Each centre has been individually designed; many have won awards.
Maggie’s Centres are calm, restful and comforting environments. They give patients and their families and friends somewhere homely to go where they can offload worries to trained medical staff and counsellors, get practical advice that will help with the day-to-day business of living with cancer or just sit with a cup of tea between treatments.
Many of our patients here at Eden have used Maggie’s centres and have told me of the exemplary care and advice that these centres provide.
Kens training has started ..early morning runs and bike rides where he can.. Fundraising has started …please donate if you can . Maggie’s is a great cause ..wish I had their support dealing with my parents demise through cancer related illness.
Over the next few months we will be encouraging Ken to put down the biscuits and keep up a training regime. Follow his preparations HERE
