Dental Implants are the closest you to having your old teeth back!
An implant can act as an artificial tooth root that is placed into the jaw bone. This can be used to anchor a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth.
A dental implant can have many advantages over other types of tooth replacement treatments as dentures can move whilst eating or talking and bridgework can be destructive to teeth adjacent to the “gap”. All options for filling spaces will be discussed with you at your consultation appointment.
Who is suitable for Dental Implants?
The ideal patient for dental implants would be someone who has good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant, and candidates should have healthy gum tissues that are free of gum disease.
For a dental implant to have the best prognosis the patient:
- Should not be taking a group of drugs called bisphosphates (these are often used to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis)
- Should not have undergone radiotherapy to the head area
- Have very good oral hygiene
- Should not smoke
- Have regular dental hygiene appointments
How Much Does It Cost?
This is obviously the first question we are asked. The cost of a single tooth implant is £2000. However, the initial layout for dental implant treatment varies on how many implants are needed and if bone augmentation is required. However as every patient is unique a detailed plan will be devised for you and all costs will be discussed prior to treatment.
