Monday 30th March
The corona virus continues to spread devastation throughout the UK. Currently centres are being setup up to cope with the expected devastation this virus will have. In Scotland the SSC in Glasgow is being converted to a treatment centre.
Our patients are continuing to be understanding of our situation which is still no face to face contact, however we continue to advise over the phone and send out tooth repair kits to try and cover sharp edges until we can treat people in the clinic again. We have continued to cancel appointments for the upcoming week.
We feel that maintaining contact with our patients is very important at this time.
This morning we had a virtual secret lockdown Santa….. where members of the team were invited to pick a gift for Ken. Undoubtedly the most imaginative of these was from Anna, who would have given him a bottle of fake tan…. as the corona virus has meant his holiday to Majorca was cancelled. We expect he will take this hint on board so when we see him next he will have a healthy glow.
Facebook was updated by Keely who linked her instagram post to the Eden page. Something that Helen can’t fathom out ?
The evening’s entertainment was provided by Chelsea…. as Eden’s resident DJ recorded us all a tik tok rap.. we ?Chelsea.
We continue to pull together as a team.
Tuesday 31st March
The number for deaths from corona virus in Scotland rose to 60 today. The sharpest rise so far.
Ken and Helen continued to lobby MP’s regarding the lack of funding for dental practices throughout this crisis.
Again a prescription was issued to a patient, which is a poor substitute for a face-to-face consultation, however everyone so far has understood this is the best that we can do.
Ionagh has been very productive at her home as she has used her time to dig her garden and paint her shed and fence. How she has managed to fit in this amount of work between her cooking and drinking….. we will never know ????
Tuesday evening finished with a team Facebook session….. which ended in quite a surreal manner.

Wednesday 1st April
We were all hoping that on this day it would be announced that the Lockdown was just a huge April fool joke, unfortunately this was now to be.
Ken had a few administrative jobs to carry out in the practice, so whilst he was there he sorted out temporary filling kits that could be posted out to patients in the event of emergencies.
That night Keely posted a cryptic “guess the song” quiz on the group chat……
It went as expected….. Chelsea and Helen did really well, and Keely ask her mum the answers. ?.
Thursday 2nd April
Today was a quiet day, with only one patient contacting the practice.
Ken continued his lobbying of local mp’s who have all sympathised with the finances worries that the practice is facing. We hope that they will turn their sympathies to actions.
It is true to say that everyone seems to be going a bit mental in Lockdown. Helen finally managed to get some home decorating done, Ionagh tanned herself, coloured in and preened. Keely has ordered cross-stitch materials and Chelsea still hasn’t managed to train her cat! It is agreed that the loner we are allowed back at work the better!

Friday 3rd April
Quite an uneventful day…. only one patient needed to contact us and a prescription was posted out to him.
Everyone is getting a bit bored at home….. Anna even resorted to occupying herself by cleaning…. but desperate times do call for desperate measures.
This weekend we are covering all patients on the rota, which will include emergencies from Castle house, one dental and Ness bank practices. As although we felt as a practice, that we would prefer to deal with our own patients continually throughout this crisis, the other dentists on the rota feel they need a break, so would prefer to carry on the rota as originally planned. We are hoping for minimal calls.
Saturday 4th April
Helen was on-call for the dental rota but thankfully this was a quite day, with her only having to give advice to one Castle house dental patient.
In the afternoon we decided to have a wee virtual bet on the virtual Grand National.
Everyone picked 4 horses (although it was decided that the favourite horse Tiger Roll would be ineligible). Points were to be awarded for any horse placed in the top 5.
Amazingly no one managed to identify a top horse ?.
it was decided we were all losers.
Thankfully Ken sent a picture of his new dog Maple to cheer us all up after our miserable performance
Obviously new of COVID-19 still dominates the news and Facebook…. the following copied Facebook post sums up the mood of the nation.
