Monday 15th June
Today, Helen was very excited as her new laminator arrived, this means she can now start making all new posters for the practice. Although most people may find this a tedious exercise she actually found it very therapeutic…. which further proves that she need to get back to work.
Tuesday 16th June
We had our first supple of FFP3 masks today from Wrights dental. These masks will be needed when dental practices are able to resume aerosol procedures. It has been noted that the cost of these masks used to be £1 per mask…. but current prices are now £8-9 …..
Thursday 18th June
Today the government formally advised that from next Monday (22nd) dental practices would be allowed to open for emergency, non-aerosol treatments.
Thankfully over the past couple of weeks we have been updating our risk assessments and going through our protocols so we are confident that we will be able to return to work in a safe way (both for ourselves and our patients).
We have started to contact patients with regards to organising appointments for next week. This has been a daunting task as each patient has to be phoned, procedures explained and then emailed with a mountain of paperwork! we are very grateful that the majority of our patients have been extremely understanding at this time.
Friday 19th June
Today we had what is hoped to be our final “zoom” meeting of the lockdown. We spent the time ensuring that everyone knew how we we going to proceed as we were to start seeing patients next week. We also made sure everyone was as comfortable as possible with the “new normal” way of working. Obviously we are all concerned with the lack of comfort of the new PPE… however we are confident that we will try and cope as best as we can!
Saturday 20th June
The phone lines, email and messenger are continuing to be busy with patients wishing appointments as soon as possible. Chelsea is doing an incredible job manning the phone lines and we are trying our best to sort out as many appointments as we can. It is however a huge problem that we have a back log of people wishing to be seen and only a few appointments per day. We are doing the best we can but things are getting a wee bit stressful.
